NH = Natural Horsemanship

Safety & Fun First:
ELS's primary concern is Safety. Our secondary concern is Fun. Our goal is to provide the safest/funnest environment for you and your horse(s). Every effort will be made to ensure you and your partner stay safe. If at any time you see or hear of an unsafe situation, please notify one of us ASAP so we may have the opportunity to remedy the situation.

Achieve Your
Horsemanship Goals:

Whether your goal is Competitive or Pleasure in Western, Dressage, Hunter-Jumper, Endurance, Trail, etc., foundation training in Groundwork & Balanced/Independent Seat is essential. ELS offers courses that will help optimize you and your
partner's development through encouragement and knowledge. On request, ELS will refer you to outside trainers when possible in a variety of riding disciplines to reach your competitive goals. These trainers will only be recommended by ELS if their philosophies are in line with the Natural Horsemanship style. This ensures the horses remain happily cooperative in their human-horse relationship.

Student Progress in Learning:
You and your partner's progress and experience are important to us. ELS's primary educational concern is that students are able to practice all of the exercises learned in their lesson on their own. There are times when a lesson requires a horse that has more knowledge or skill than the student. At these times, a student would benefit from taking a lesson on or with a school horse in order to experience the
"right" feel of the exercise. Opportunities will be available to accomplish this and arranged on an individual basis.

Your Partner, Your Horse: Natural Horsemanship provides a more personal approach to the opportunities that may be presenting themselves between horse and rider. ELS can watch and guide you through a variety of exercises privately or in a group to develop a relationship through communication and feel.

Courses without Horses: From time-to-time ELS will offer Didactic/Theory classes that will serve as an opportunity to focus on NH teachings. There will be offered a variety of educational materials and resources
ELS will require to prepare you for these classes. Some of the classes will be required in order to participate in advanced training classes.

Creative opportunities: ELS offers a variety of classes and courses designed to meet your goals. Whether your horse is impulsive, spooky, sour, has a bad attitude or habits, these courses will improve your partnership and reestablish your role as a leader. Through Leadership not dominance and confidence not fear, horse-human relationships seem to disappear in a short amount of time.

Natural Horsemanship Style: Although ELS recommends the Parelli Natural Horsemanship Study Program this does not negate the talents and value other Natural Horsemen and Women have brought to the horse world.
The Instructor will act as a coach and facilitate and encourage you through your individual program.

Saddle-Fitting Assistance: You and your partner's comfort are important in Natural Horsemanship. Having the right Tack for the right reason improves cooperation and performance. Classes will be offered to learn more about saddle-fitting savvy.

Introduction to Balanced Seat Riding: This course introduces you to "Balanced or Independent Seat." "In classical (riding), the movements performed are representations of natural movements that a horse might do at play or in courtship or territorial displays. This has been the central element in describing the classical riding approach—that is , that the movements must complement nature, and what is natural for the horse." (Riding Towards The Light, by Paul Belasik pg.91).

Whether your style is Western, English, Polo, Eventing, jumping etc., this series of classes open up the possibilities of riding through feel, communication, and balance. The student will be able to apply this knowledge and proven techniques to any discipline of riding. Learn how to feel the horse through your seat. Learn the techniques to achieve light leg and hand aids. A series of bareback lunge-work exercises will improve your balance and riding skills as well as rhythm, balance and suppleness.
